About 50 kilometres north of Lisbon, surrounded by the agricultural fields of Dois Portos, is located a jewel of the municipality of Torres Vedras: the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles. Built on top of a small hill, this is a unique place, where visitors are invited to contemplate the surrounding beauty, to enjoy the silence and feel the peace this Shrine transmits to us .
Here, pilgrims are presented with a place rich in history and devotion, where they can feel closer to the Divine and, in seclusion, say their prayers of thanks or supplication, asking for the intercession of Our Lady, Mother of Jesus.
Here, non-believing visitors will also be able to stop for a while, make a moment of silence, find their inner self and regain strength and courage to face life's difficulties and continue on their path with more hope.
The origins of this shrine date back to the 16th century and through the pages of this website you can learn a little more about its history and the legend that gave rise to it. We hope you enjoy your time here and, above all, that it sparks your interest in visiting this small chapel, so dear to the people of this region. We think you'll like it!
The shrine is usually open on Sundays between 2 and 4 pm.
The shrine is located to the north of the village of Via Galega, between Sobral de Monte Agraço and Dois Portos, on top of a small hill and surrounded by agricultural fields. The site can be reached via the M535 road, where there is a junction with a signpost to the access road.
Note: when you arrive at the location, sometimes the GPS tells you to take a shortcut and go up a bad dirt road, but the recommended route is via the paved road that is a little further up (where the respective signpost is).
